Yesterday we drove from Penzance to Bristol Airport where we returned our rental car, and caught the Airport Flyer into town to Temple Meads station. I had booked ahead through trainline.com, and had an all-in-one ticket for bus, train and metro to take us to London. It worked brilliantly! There is no time to say much, but here is a taste of London from our walk this morning.
British Museum, amazing of course,
and full of treasure!
Trafalgar Square with fountains, sculptures, buskers, and tourists … you can see Big Ben in the distance …
National Gallery also full of treasure, the artistic kind, here seen beyond a fountain …
Houses of Parliament …
the London Eye and Thames …
and Westminster Abby flying all the flags! This is where we popped into the Tube and found our way back to Shoreditch where we are staying.
Your pics make me wish I could be in London for the weekend. 🙂
Years ago, when i was in London, they made us evacuate the train stations due to IRA bomb threats; i’m glad things are better (and more civilized) these days! 🙂
Does this mean I won’t get my real-world nature fix from you for a while?
You’ve packed it in again!
You brought back fond memories of a vacation in London…thanks!
I have many photos of us in London, Christine; but the really interesting part is that they were taken in Janury 1990, when things like The Eye didn’t exist ! Still, we do have a shot in front of the BM, and that looks just the same. 🙂
Love to see London again… Beautiful photos!
I love London! Was there again just last summer. and now it’s back on my wish-list! My favorite city of all I have been to.
Did you hear the bells of Shoreditch? I am not sure why the bells of Shoreditch say “when I grow rich” but it is interesting that Shoreditch is richer / trendier than it used to be.
