Sunday Post : Unique

One of the unique places we visited along the Gibb River Road in The Kimberley, was Ellenbrae Station. This remote cattle property offers camping accommodation to travellers, but is better know for its tasty Devonshire Tea. We camped over night, loving the feeling of a green oasis after a few days on the road.

Ellenbrae boab and bathroom

This may be a unique bathroom, built into the side of a huge boab tree in the shelter of the homestead. Ingenuity was obvious in all the campground facilities too. When you are so far from civilisation you make do with whatever is the hand. At Ellenbrae it was all done with artistic flair, a pleasing collation of old corrugated iron, stone, bush plumbing and trees.

This post is for Jake’s Sunday Post. Have you seen his marvellous graphics? A visit there will give you links to other posts for Unique, something that each one of is always is … but then you might like to see Jake’s unique home too!

  1. That is the most unique bathroom on planet Earth, I know. Boab trees are magical and this one is huge. There are few thing that I would like to see before I die, and the Boab is one of them. 🙂 I enjoyed this visit very much, Christine.

  2. What fun! And if anyone questions the wisdom of using greywater for plants, you can point to that well-nourished boab.

let's chat about this ...
