I walked down to the sea at high tide this morning. A very high tide, 2 metres! Water was flowing freely over the sand into the lagoon, a rare sight with calm seas. The lagoon is washed clean, full of fresh sea water, just perfect for life to proliferate. One large branch was circling lazily in the water, undecided about whether to make a break for the ocean or remain in the calm lagoon. Aren’t we like that sometimes … sticking with the known when the unknown beckons?

I had an email asking about yoga classes … and hmmm … I am undecided. How many classes will I offer this term, when, and for how many weeks? Having a year off (well, I did teach a few short series last year) has loosened the grip of the school term planning. Having a new grandchild in Paris keeps it loose, since I know we will be travelling more often. I replied by mentioning a class another teacher runs here on Saturday mornings … she is reliable! I am looking forward to teaching again, I feel really refreshed by the break, but I am not sure how much to commit myself yet. You can see how overcast and wet the morning was … on the way back from the sea I stopped by the dam to photograph raindrops.

For several years the dam has been thick with red azolla, but after heavy rain a few months ago it was all washed out, and has not returned. These tropical waterlilies at the northern end of the dam struggled with the thick weed cover, but they are celebrating the new year with an explosion of leaves and flowers. You can see the pink flowers in the background of the photo above, and here is a close up of the blue lily.

this time last year S was pulling the azolla out of the dam and using it for mulch in the vegie garden … it made incredible soil! So glad you enjoy visiting dear Gilly, I do wonder at times what I am doing but it just flows along like a stream … so pleased others find it peaceful … we are all so blessed to share the beauty in our lives heart to heart with each other 🙂
You’ve a reminded me to beach-visit. Family-visit has somehow derailed the daily peace of the early walk. As always wonderful photos – and a challenge! Maybe I will go to Poland via Bulgaria. I’m looking forward to a full year of your blogging and your photos, revealing to me your world nearby.
