    • deer and kangaroos and wallabies fill the same niche … browsers … they all love our gardens! kangaroos prefer grass, but the wallabies job is to keep the forest clear so they nibble all the low branches, even breaking down the fruit trees to eat them … that is the price we pay for living away from town πŸ™‚

    • it is gilly …. one of the small gumtrees from WA that have been bred for home gardens …. it has a different name because it belongs to a small sub-group … *Corymbia ficifolia* or the *red flowering gum* also known as *Albany red flowering gum* (previously known as *Eucalyptus ficifolia*) is one of the most commonly planted ornamental trees in the broader eucalyptus family … thanks for asking!!!

  1. How beautiful. I often notice many Australian natives are planted in Southern California. I will be on the look-out, perhaps at our Arboretum. It’s really special. And I don’t think we’ll need the cage! No wallabies about! I probably don’t have a clue what I’m saying here, but somehow I think I’d like to have that experience. πŸ™‚

    • you should be able to find it debra, if you have plant nursery nearby with the dwarf gums … they are wonderful because the flowers are huge yet the tree size is small, and all so very colourful!

let's chat about this ...
