our walking party at the base of Gulaga this morning
We set out early this morning to walk up the sacred women’s mountain to celebrate Penny’s 50th birthday. Gulaga is a special place for the Yuin people, and to all of us who have been touched by her. She is the place where all things begin, where knowledge is gained and healing found. She is the spiritual mother who demands both fear and respect. I have had some powerful experiences on her flanks and among the giant granite tors in the women’s area. I was glad to climb again today and help my friends prepare properly to enter the women’s area. More of this story tomorrow!
