Thick cloud and persistent rain dulled the light today, but it gradually eased during the afternoon, when we went walking around a lake in the Jura.
Between admiring the beauty of the dark water and dripping foliage, we looked for blueberries and mushrooms in the forest.
There were more of the marvellous red variety!
Mushrooms look good in the rain, wet and shiny, they glow on the fallen timber and the litter of the path edge!
Then the rain stopped, the sky lightened just a little ….
This lake Etang de Gruere is at 994 metres, it freezes in winter, and the whole area is popular for cross country skiing. Wearing borrowed gumboots we enjoyed a perfect walk, so I hope you enjoy it too! The sign below is where we parked the car, at Moulin du Gruere, where an old mill used to be, but is now just a storage space for timber from the forest.
