Cloudy Sunrise

Mullimburra sunrise

Walking on the beach this morning, reflecting on the sun hidden behind the thick bank of clouds … so like us with the dullness of the fearful ego hiding the beauty and light of the divine within!

One of my favourite verses from childhood was ““You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” …. now I have issues with the translation of that verse … I can live with “You are the light of the world …. therefore let your light shine that others may see by your life the divine light/awareness within you and glorify that One” …..   yes,  let your light shine!

Another version: “The mind that has been dominated by ego is just like a lake that has been covered by dark clouds. As the dark clouds are removed, the moon shines and the lake is filled with beauty. So, too, when the dark cloud of ego is lifted, the lustrous moon of the Divine Self shines, illumining your mind.” Swami Jyotirmayananda

Oh dear … time for breakfast!

    • yes francine, beauty all around, we found this land 23 years ago and just knew we had to live here when we could, now we try to care for this whole area and keep it beautiful

  1. Your photo takes me back to a time when I would sometimes go to the beach to watch the sunrise in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in my younger days. I remember the magnificence of the rays rising, then glistening, across the waves. Thanks for the memory jog. Beautiful photograph!. 🙂

    • thanks for your comment marcy, this is a good time of year for us to watch the sunrise, daylight savings ends soon, then we will have to be an hour earlier!

    • thank you bluebee … i wondered what others thought about that …. but those of us who are working on waking up should get it, ooooh to thin those clouds 🙂
